Building your first agent.

From sign-up to an agent you can talk to, step by step.

Before you start

Pick one narrow job for your first agent: one clinic, one procedure or one study. A focused agent is easier to build, easier to test and easier to get through review. You can always build a second.

Describe it

Give the agent a name, say who it is for and what it should help with. This is what the agent reads first, so write it the way you would brief a new colleague: who the patients are, what they usually ask, and where your service ends.

Add your content

Upload the leaflets and guidance you already give people, or write text and question-and-answer pairs directly. Add as much relevant material as you can. The agent can only answer from what is here. See preparing your content for what works best.

Review the passages

Ostify splits your content into passages. Read through them, fix any wording, and approve the ones the agent may use. Anything you do not approve stays out of its answers.

Shape how it talks

Choose a reading level, how warm it sounds and how long its answers are, and watch the sample answer change. Then write the lines it must never cross. See writing rules it must never break.

Talk to it

Ask it the questions your patients actually ask, including the awkward ones. When something sounds off, fix the content or the passages rather than the wording of the answer. When it sounds like your service, move on to evaluation.
